PROGRAMS
High School Work/Study Program
The Si, Se Puede Work/Study Program is designed to respond to the unique needs of low-income urban high school youth and to support them in achieving their own educational goals while encouraging them to give back to the community. The work/study program provides graduates of our after school program with the opportunity to be small group leaders and helpers at SSP along with students from Phillips Academy. In exchange for hours worked in the after school program, work/study participants receive financial assistance for educational pursuits.
What participants learn:
- How to work with children in the after school program as tutors and small groups leaders
- Life success values including punctuality, cooperation, creative problem solving, self-confidence, responsibility and respect
What participants receive:
- Support in reaching educational and life goals
- Financial assistance for educational pursuits
- Support in the transition to college and/or training programs
- Individual help with SAT preparation, college applications, financial aid forms
